Yuck. Worse than zoos, I hate fish.
Great picture, though. My question is how did you get that one guy in the middle to stand up and pose for you and look at the camera. To me, that's what made the photo.

Very bright and attractive colors ! I personally prefer the reflective water, I think it gives a nice shiny look to the picture. Bye,Luca

You didn't have to go all the way to Shanghai to see that. Not more than 40 miles from you in ZhuHai China I shot a similar swarm in February. Koi are domesticated fish so it is no big deal when they swarm to food. They are more interesting than other species simply because they're more colorful.

...and I thought my Koi pic was busy :-).
As Bill indicated, a polarizer might've helped as Bill here, to reduce the reflections from the water's surface. The image looks a bit blurred as well - perhaps the camera was too close?
My Koi pic's at http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=17558, just in case you want to see what's possible with a polarizer :-)

hi katia & bill, It was arrey's shot that reminded me to put this one up - I was just looking at his portfolio.
I was hoping the white fish was just bendy, but you're probably right :(

This shot remind me another similar by Arrey (I attach it here). I disagree with the polarizing filter, I think this is natural and true. And you are right, but there are two dead fish... one is withour body...and the other is with its mouth out of water... poor fishes.

Interesting photo. Says a lot about China! I think that it might have been slightly improved by use of a polarizing filter. It may have removed some of the distracting highlights on the water.
