About I was curious to see how this would turn out. I didn't expect the sky to turn out the way it did. Looks kinda abstract. Obviously it's because of the long exposure. On a side note, any advice on taking moon shots? I haven't had success yet.

Beautiful mood, great shot. As for the moon, I would say (at least for me) a high aperture (like F22) and a sturdy tripod help... usually you take it when the moon is full or bright, and the shuter speed does not have to be that long,..

Thanks everybody for the comments. I agree with everybody on the cropping. Looking at it now I think this pic would be much better if there were no tree on the right and there were no tree branches in the top half of the pic (especially the top right). It would be much better if there was more sky with no dead black space on the top half. Thanks again!

Nice shot, but the tree on the right is a little bit distracting. It would be better if cropped out of the photo. Verry nice lighting.

I'd call this attempt succesful! My very first moon shot looked quite similar, which leads me to believe that shooting on a night when it's partially cloudy with a bit of breeze around to push the clouds about can produce some stunning results. I love the dramatic kinetic look it lends to an otherwise tranquil scene. And you even got some stars in there!

I agree with Natalie about cropping out the tree. It leads the viewer's eye out of the photo. As for shooting at night, I haven't found a tried-and-true formula yet, but I feel like I'm narrowing it down ever so slowly. Personally, I find f22 to be a bit too small as far as aperture is concerned, especially on darker nights. I tend to hover around f11. Bracket like crazy, that's all I can suggest. :)

Splendide luci. Un'ottimo scatto. Molto coinvolgente. la luce e' il particolare che piu' io apprezzo in questa foto. Un'ottima composizione. Mi piace moltissimo. Avrei tagliato la pare sulla destra che distrae. Complimenti. Ciao

Paul,

I like the effect in the clouds. I've been experimenting with this kind of thing myself but havn't had a result I'm happy with yet. Exposures for the surface of the full moon follow the sunny 16 'rule'. I found some useful information here:

Hi Paul - great shot - i really like it but may have cropped the tree on the right hand side out. For me it's a bit distracting.

I can't tell you much on the moon - I shot it early in the night the other day and had no problems holding the camera - and had an aperture of 2.8. Good luck!
