You did a very good job of editing your original picture. Your edited picture is very nice, which must have been hard considering the darkness of the original. I think that your photo editing is NOT a waste of time, on the contrary, it's time well spent, as you are creating beautiful things.

I think you have too many subjects ? the window, the crucifix and the triangular object ? which confuses the eye and mind. If one of these were to be isolated, then the resulting image would be stronger IMO. Your PS work definitely improved the overall tones.

Very nice work. The "new" lightning really makes a lot. Did you use PS for that, or it's "real" lightning? Some details at the top of this photo seem to be made in PS? (I would expect the shadows to be a bit different... am not sure about that). Anyway, very nice "improvment" of the original (even that has got "something"... but as you said... the light means a lot). A little bit the composition... I don't know... I kind of miss some more "space" in the right side of the photo/s... a few more pixles?
Good work, anyway.
