I always wondered about the emotional appeal aspect. this is one of those photos that i see that take my breath away as i look at it. it is incredible in terms of DOF and tone and composition. even the clouds slightly blurred as a result of the long exposure and movement create a scintillatingly dramatic scene.

A good argument for large format! And the detail doesn't even show on a computer monitor.

2 min ? Nice, what time was it.

Those rock lines just out so strongly in deifiance of the oncoming onslaught of blur. The contrast works well there, as does th erepetition in them - similar length and spacing.

Personally I love when you get oncoming clouds blurring over time like that -gives a very special look.

Nana Sousa Dias   {K:263} 8/17/2003
Sarah: The exposure time was 2 minutes, on tripod, of course. That is enough to have the cloud movement registed on film, the rocks didn't move, during that time! ;-)

Way to go! How did you get the lower portion(shoreline)-to be so sharp-while the sky to appear blurred?
