Good work...I think that the given subject requires one of two approaches (since many would argue it as a cliche because it has been done so many times). A) perfect clarity, lighting, detail etc. B) an approach that nearly abstracts it (your approach).
I like your approach. I appreciate that you let your husband's hand nudge the frame on all three sides. I like the grain - it makes it feel like a memory.
I also have to say that your husbands hands look large, gentle, and strong. A wonderful combination and a beautiful combination...
