About
This view shows where the Sea Lions have climbed to the higher part of the rock to try to sun on a rainy day. They come out of the water for two major reasons. 1. to dry and warm their bodies. They are warm blooded animals but the water is cold enough to bring their core temperature down. Time out of the water lets them warm up again. 2. To escape predators - the main one is the Great White Shark. Occasionally, they need to deal with Orcha whales (aka killer whales).
