sorry, forget to mention that the Arab left there a 1800 Arabic words used till now in daily life,as I read many years ago to an author named if I remember Acin Palathios, for example Al varez meaning the knight in Arabic and the name Sid which means honorable master, and sheriff and so on.

the origin of the name is related to the Vandals, they have conquered Iberia and settled in its southern lands, and give their tribe name to the lands, when the Arab came and took the land, they arabizes the name(we pronounce it wandal)to Al Andalous, this is what written in the Arabic references,

Found the origin of the vandals to be east german. They travelled down to Iberia and Africa ( the moors ) and also bothered the romans ...

(The Arabic name Al-Andalus was originally applied by the Muslims (Moors) to the entire Iberian Peninsula. It probably means “Country of the Vandals.” In the 11th century, when the Christians began to reconquer the peninsula,) Britanica.
but from the common daily life culture,I think and believed, it means (the paradise),promise to consult the Arabic main references to find the real meaning, regards
