A Zikri boy looks out from the fishing net and into the outer world. He might not know now, but he belongs to a minority sect called Zikri, people who claim there are prophets after Hazrat Muhammad (salahu alihi wasalam). As Muslims believe in the finality of Prophethood, for the mainstream this sect - and all other such sects - are in essence out of Islam.
Zikris have various beliefs including one where zikr, or the repetition of the names of God, is part of faith; salat (daily prayers prayed by Muslims five times a day) is not necessary. They have other secret ingredients within their religious belief system which they don't like to share.
Most of the Zikris may be found in the poverty-struck province of Baluchistan. Therefore, Baluch form the bulk of Zikris found in the country. Some NGO's belonging to western countries are said to be behind the basic funding of such sects.
