It is a hard thing to do, no matter of camera, Puven! Your eyes will get all details on low and high lights but the camera... Imagine that real world scenes may go up tp 60000:1 in matters of dynamics range. Our eyes are able to get that. At the same time time the best of the best cameras will be able to get a range of, say, 1000:1. Good news i, our eyes are better. :-) Bad news is, we need some more consoderations when it comes to capturing such scenes :-(
About your camera/lens, what is the widest aperture / longest exposure that you can set? It could be that the electric light is already enough for the interior of the room - why not? If your camera for example allows a narrow(est) aperture setup, and as long as nothing moves, then just set the appropriately long exposure time (under the electric light and without the natural light), and see what you could get
But to have both of them... well, that's hard. And you did better than just "well" here, but still it is a hard thing.

Hi,
thanks for your comments. I was just trying to play around with the light inside and outside. I was using a very basic camera at that time which did not have the ability of getting a gud shot under low light conditions so, I had to open the curtains.
I wish I had a better camera! :)

The colors do give some of that classy impression, Puven, that one expects in such hotels. It would do that much more efficiently and also completely, if the situation were a bit easier to capture. But this was a real hard job, since in order to get the details of interest in the shadows, the lights went out of control and reall "contaminated" that rather "silent" atmosphere in such hotels. Perhaps your composition should contain the warm light in the room, but not the curtains and the light from outside.
