The graininess of the surface of sphynx blends into some (assumed???) graininess of the photo itself, and this combined with the very vivid contrasts of light and shadow on her make the appearance quite silent and mysterious. I do think that the darker background enhances the foreground quite strongly but a bit more detail in those darker parts would do good, I think. Anyway, a very "alive" image, on which the very nicely captured expression of the Sphynx' face is about to reveal something.

I believe he is jim, and a great many other famous and not so famous people. for instance, on our short walk this day passed by Irving Berlin's modest stone. this Egyptian knock-off is part of FW Woolworth's mausoleum.
