Hi Nicole, The blueness of the water is due to its great depth. This is the deepest body of fresh water in the USA. It is 1942 feet deep and 6 miles in diameter. BILL NAGY

Dave, Crater lake was formed from an ancient volcano ( Mount Mazama ) which colapsed in on itself 7700 years ago. It was over 12 ,000 feet high amdthe remaining caldera is 4,000 feet deep which is half full of water.
