Kathy, you have aptly demonstrated that it pays to get up early and get out. The mist has a very serene appeal. The composition is static yet there is some motion and tension created by the water fowl rising out of the fog.

Breathtaking Kathy.....I love the colours that have been softened down by the mist. It is a wonderful moody and atmospheric composition and I concur with others on that top left corner and with Dave with regards to cloning out. An excellent early morning 'find' superbly composed. Well done sweetie.
My AOL connection kept me out of UF for a while so I am busy catching up. My very best wishes to you as always......Ray

Great capture, Kathy. The lake really looks enchanted. Well done!!
It's not a commentary on your wonderful photo, but in looking at it I thought what a wonderful composition just the foreground would be, so I cropped it that way and thought you might enjoy it.

WOW! What a mood! The soft damp of this scene really comes through. I love the contrast of the vaporous water and the sharp lines of the structure. The birds are a wonderful element on the water as they give scale and some context to the scene. A beautiful nature scene. To my faves! Great stuff Kathy!

Marvelous image, Kathy, but I also agree with Rinys comment. I had the same feeling when I saw it. Nevertheless it's a great shot and really MOODY.

I was just checking to see if you entered your photo into the picked project, because I was going to suggest it. This landscape is deffinately moody. I love how the mist is comming off the water and the picture has such a soft quality to it. Nice, Nice Nice.

Beautiful shot of the mist rising on the lake Kathy.

Others have commented on the composition, so I'm going to just stick with a comment on the capture of the mist.

This is not always as easy as it might seem. I know quite often I will be dissapointed by a "mist" shot when for some reason it doesn't quite come out like I saw it. This one works very well because the rising mist from this point of view adds nicely to the depth and 3d perspective.
Because we see the mist rising straight up, we see the image less flat. The mist is like a frame of reference.
Good job!
Andre

A beautiful, atmospheric scene, Kathy! I like your composition, but agree that the fir branches are a little distracting. Maybe cloning them out is the answer, to keep the full height of your original composition. Still, a great shot either way!
Dave.

Right you are, Rina! Isn't it strange, but when it is your own image it's so easy to forget to check out all the aspects. I like this better without the fir tree in the corner. I still prefer the drop shadow, but, like you said, it's merely an alternate view, and it's a good one! Thanks for the input!

Kathy... this is beautiful... I know this phrase is somewhat overused but, it IS just like a painting. I'm in awe, truly. Love it.

The only minor suggestions I would make here are to crop a little from the top (my eyes keep getting pulled up to the top-left) and lose the drop shadow. But remember, this is my opinion only and is not to say that the composition or presentation style is wrong, merely a suggestion for an alternative. I've attached what I mean.

Again, I love this image and I think you're on to a winner here :)

Cheers
Rina.

Don't you guys EVER stay home? ) (Not when the sun is out...)
Very pretty Sissy. This just does not look real, it looks like a painting. Soft and calm.
This is one you could crop several different ways too and I bet you will get lots of suggestions!
Are those the little ducks out there? It show how large the lake is by comparison.
Good job, well seen by...you? Denny? Both? What a team!
