About This one is for Andre Denis. I'm not sure how I feel about this, but I was playing around with the layer process that he has been working with. One layer is in focus and the other has a gaussian blur applied to it. This was taken at the winery that is just a couple of miles from us.

I like this photo Kathy and the duotone look. I am not sure about the soft focus here. Perhaps it could be selectively applied by bringing back sharp foreground branches.

Very nice winter mood! I am of two minds regarding the blur. The softness brings a wonderful mood and ambience to the air underneath the trees. This would be even more magnified and efective on a cloudy day I think. Yet it is a fine line between success or not here. The hazy off-focus look to the tree limbs is a bit distracting to me personally. Yet, as a modd piece I think it is quite successful.

Nice work Kathy and I strongly encourage you to keep at the PS effects work. It is something I would like to do more of myself and I think it brings a new dmension to the work.

Best regards,
Mark

A wonderful soft effect on this beautiful archway my dear Kathy. I do try to follow all these PS experiments but I get dreadfully lost. I love the effects here and the colour tones add in a lovely mood to your composition. Well done to you sweetie, all the very best....Ray

I like the effect of the PS work. wonderful photo, some surreal effect on it and you did a good job in composing it.. With or without the blurring, it is a good photograph...
nice shot Kathy...

Nice effect Kathy. Places a soft errie quality to it. I wouldn't want to walk by those trees in the middle of the night. Great color tones.

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for the little shout out for me.
This one is quite close to my "Old Mill Lane" image.
So, naturally, I like this one :)

Did you notice how this process is really effective from the bottom of the tree trunks up to about where the branches get skinny? I love the look of the middle area of this image.
Also the toning suits it too.

Don't you just love it when you find yourself second guessing yourself and keep going back and changing the image for a slightly different look? I found my eyes going cross-eyed while trying to decide which one to post :)
You even ended up with a similar "foggy/smudgy" look in the mid distance in this one, similar to the one I did.
You better watch out, this kind of thing can become addictive :)
Check out my latest one of some leaves tangled around a tree trunk. I bet you will like it.
It's called "Tangled Up In Blue"

So this is the view after visiting the winery and having samples, is it? Just kidding, Kathy, it's a fine example of the effect and I like the tones here, too.
Dave.

Interesting shot Kathy: These look more like trees than grape vines, but I love the pattern effect of the intertwining parts.

That is an interesting pattern formed by the grape vines. Good tones and contrast in the image.
