thanks for all of your insights. i agree that the squatting figure onstage takes a bit away from the energy of the shot. maybe i will get rid of him?

Wow Eric, fantastic shot! The composition is excellent and the angle grabs attention very well. You've done a marvelous job with ambient light, a masterful exposure. Great colors and a mood full of action, well aided by the animated audience. First class work!
Responding to another comment, I personally like the negative space above the guitarist. Without that the shot would feel a little cramped and it balances the intensity of his posture very well. I feel it's essential to the success of this shot.
One minor suggestion might be to clone out the figure squatting across the stage. Might be a challenge to do given the stream of read light in a fading gradient. You wouldn't want to lose the light rays, they add a lot of ambience. Maybe just add some blur there or do a low percentage clone?

nice angle on this one. adds or compliments the intensity of the shot. there is a little bit of an excess space on top. overall nice shot.
