About Bodiam Castle, East Sussex England. Tucked away in a secret valley, virtually...Without a map its likely no one would find it.... A rare antiquity, a moated castle with an intact exterior. Built in 1385 to keep out the French, conquered during the English civil war, now a National Trust property, I expect the French have less trouble getting in these days.

as a series of 'expressions' I've been taking the theme of obsolesensce... taking the images of relics of the instruments of 'power' to enhance as vivid reminders of distant memories, in the twilight years of fading into oblivion... enhancing them with atmospheric weather conditions to hint at how those instruments of power changed the world. I'm not over keen on being obsessive about the technical aspects of how the images were produced, other than to say I explore tools in a way that that are new to me. The lightning was produced by tinkering with algorithms to create the lightning effect of bodiam being 'lit up', a metaphor for the way the ghastly demons of bastion and feudal power gave way to the rise of nation states, a dark age of rule by fear giving away to the enlightened age 'network' of national governments and institutions...

Too many algorithms for my liking, but interesting all the same. What happened to http://www.usefilm.com/showphoto.php?id=104710&redo=please

I thought the comments left there were diverse, interesting and well intentioned.

How on Earth did you achieve this effect? PS or some other fancy program? WOW! I love it. It is eerie and spectacular.
