The colours were what attracted me to the leaves in the first place. I tried HDR not to saturate the leaves but to add more "3D" effect to the leaves.

Hey Jonesy. Thanks for looking and commenting. Had the 10-22 a little while now Great lens although I am taking my time getting used to the wide angle and the polerizer.

This was shot at St Kilda on the salt flats to the left as you drive towards the ocean. The focal length was 12mm.

I'd love to go back when there is some colour in the sky.

Now that is a BIG sky Peter. Very moody. Great sense of scale created by the person.

Nicely done Peter. The HDR really brings out those rusty colours.

Thanks fabio. I had not thought of the "doomsday" connection before. It is pretty desolate in that part of the lake. I guest it was that stakeness that attracted me to the area in the first place

Cheers :)

Thanks for your encouraging remarks Frank. I am just getting into landscapes, so any feed back helps.

Cheers :)

Very strong and emotive image. Gives one a rather cool and bleak and maybe a little depresive feeling. I like the desaturated colours adding to the mood of the image.

Her eyes and smile seem to belie the story of poverty or restriction. I like the grainy/textured look and tones of the the image too.

Inspirational!

I see you are using a reversed lens on your 100mm macro. I just learnt of this technique. Where did you get the step down/up ring for the canon equipment??

Hey Phil, thanks for looking and commenting. Played in photoshop with the eyes and "draganiser" effect. Glad it works. I see you are doing well with your images here.

Wonderful composition and colours. The leaves on the brink with the reflection of the branches in the darker water is great.

Thanks for the replies here; very supportive.

I entered this image into a national comp here in Australia and it won Top People Print of the competition.

I am ever sooooo pleased.

Thanks Jake, comments much appreciated.

You are right about her eyes. They feature the same in most of the shot of Hanna on the day. Her makeup is rather heavy around her eyes and I thought it was that which was causing the darkness......also maybe my focus was somewhat distracted??

I did use a golden reflector but will have to pay more attention to the eyes next time.
