Thanks, Chuck... I haven't done much street photography, myself (I was up there to shoot down at the Furman Golf Course, and I almost drove off without this one, but stopped the car and pulled my camera back out of the bag), but after I posted it, I started thinking that it could stand a little more "choke", and a bit less around the edges.

Street art is some of the times over looked by people. This is a nice photo, but I would recommend a tighter crop. I would crop out the stuff on the right and a little off the top.

Dave, thanks for the tips. I have given some thought to painting the foreground with different colored light, I'm still scoping out where I'm going to shoot, though... I've got waaay too many shots of the trees in my backyard (lunar eclipes, moon phases, partly cloudy, polarized sky, lightning). Anyway once I get the location settled, I think I learned enough with this set to get get pretty close to what I want from the next wave of clouds that rolls through...

Hey Joe... I think I see where you're going with this. You are on the right track, are you thinking of using trees as the foreground subject? This kind of photography is definitely my favorite kind and alot of fun. Don't forget to bring a good flashlight, and maybe a couple of colored gels for some light painting of the foreground on a couple of pics. If you don't have any around, maybe you can borrow a couple of markers from "Bluebeard" and color a couple pieces of cellophane or plastic wrap. Happy shooting... Doug

Thanks, all... this is an ISO 200 digital image with in-camera "dark frame subtraction" noise reduction applied. For the real-deal, I'll be using ISO 100 FujiChrome Provia 100F.

Very good first attempt with this kind of image!
I would have preferred a tad faster shutter (and higher iso)What was the film speed? We could see more detail in the clouds..Regardless I applaud your first attempt! Carol

hello there,
nice use of slow shutter speed to get the cottonwool effect of the running water.
framing is good as well, using the branch of the tree on the left hand side.
you have tried to make the photo three dimensional which is good as it adds dept to the photo.
you have running water in the front of the photo which draws your interest to the rock in the middle.
and out the otherside with the other stream of water.
the nice muted lighting also gives a nice cool green feel to the photo as well.
keep up the good work.
cheers peter
