Oh, how marvelous! You got the gorgeous flowers to really look soft and delicate and the frog to look really...froggy. I like the way the two subjects work together. Pondlife is a many splendored thing!
Wish the frog's eyes were just a teeny bit sharper, but that's probably just my monitor or the upload compression...or my eyes. :-)

I just love Hummers. They are the most amazing birds to watch. I have said before that I cannot believe there are zero in Hawaii. Don't they know there are all kinds of flowers out here. I like this shot a lot, and agree with John that the background is sweet! I am not ready for digital, may never really be, but look at one great benefit....you took these today. Can't do that with film. Great shot.

Great colors again and I personally like this composition too. Not centering the butterfly works well here. The sharpness is really lacking on the subject however, it is entirely out of focus on my screen.

Beautiful composition here, nicely laid out. Colors are also excellent. The focus in my opinion is a bit soft and a bit off. I really like this shot.

Thanks for all the comments. I agree there is a focus problem on the fawns face. I went back and looked at the original and the focus issue isn't as pronounced there, but still evident. Looks like it got worse in the cropping (which was minimal) and more so when I used the Unsharp Mask (still learning how to use these tools). Will repost the original tonight. And yes, my heart was definitely racing as this is the first fawn I've ever seen in the wild. And yes, I do need to upgrade my lens (Tamron has served me well, but I didn't upgrade my lens when I moved to digital), and will do when budget allows. Again, thanks for the comments, which should improve my next shoot of some baby animal.

Beautiful capture CJ. I'm thinking what may have caused just the tad bit out of focus head of the beautiful creature was your DOF that you used? Maybe? Still and all beautiful!

I agree with Kim. This is perfect compostion--or cropped after the fact--I know how hard it is to nail the focus when your heart is racing--and Tamron is a junk lens--but you did miss this by a fraction. Pity, it's a beautiful image--just tell us its the upload so we can sleep better--I'm still seeking counsil for the thousand shots I missed by this much or at all. You didn't miss it, congrats.

Cj... do you stalk baby animals? *grin* Nice to get the fawn in a natural setting, but it looks like the head isn't in focus, but the rear of the fawn is. Is the print like this as well? Nice bright colours, and I like the closeness you attained.
