He's a Bernese Mountain Dog, about 3.5 months old in this picture. We fell in love with the breed too - we have another one that just turned 2 years old.
If your friend would like to experience one firsthand, there will be about 650 of them in Frankenmuth, MI 5/1-6 for the national specialty.

I'm not sure why it says the film type was B&W Negative - I selected Color and have tried re-editing the image to specify Color but it doesn't seem to take.

While I'm an absolute novice with Photoshop, using Auto Contrast and Auto Color mostly did the trick. I just tweaked the saturation a little after that.

That's what kind of bird this is - there are many of them in this area, and they frequently cirle the canyons looking for food.
