I really love these colors. The color of the sky is great and really helps direct the eye to the details of the snow on the trees and ground. I like this much better than if the sky had been brighter.

Thanks so much for your comment David. It was really helpful. Yes, I'd applied a gradient filter so that is the blur you see the the bottom. I had thought it was otherwise a bit too white, but now that I look back at it I see that you are exactly right and it's just weird and distracting! Thanks so much for pointing it out, and also for the suggestions on how to make this photo more alive. It was all very helpful.

This is so, so nice. I love colors, texture, and form. This makes me really wish I were there in person.

What excellent use of selective coloring! This looks great. I love the perspective of the slightly curved street, and how it's only a few houses in color scattered here and there along the way.

Hey Gaja,

Looking at this closer now, I see that this has a very shallow DOF. I was wondering if you tried this with a wider field of focus? This one made me look around for a while to figure out what part of it was in focus and I was sort of surprised to find that it was the third ear of corn in from the front. I think if all three ears were in focus, this photo might feel more comfortable.... if that makes any sense?

I really like the composition, and I especially like how the red leaves are only where the tree is, and otherwise there are yellow leaves everywhere. Great composition.

(However, this seems maybe a bit oversaturated to me... What do you think?)

The thumbnail does not do this photo justice. It makes it look blurred, but in fact it's very sharp.

I love the deep rich red and velvety appearance. It does help to give the beads of water the appearance of being sparkling jewels.

Cute! What a great expression, and nice off-center composition.

(Though I think I'd prefer it without all the framing. Somehow it makes me more aware of his neck, like he somehow fits between the two squares...)

So cool!

You have such an amazing eye for composition. How is it that this photo hasn't won a BIP??

Fabulous!

I wish there was a way to reduce the noise in the blue sky, but I don't know how to do it...

Anyway, I think the composition is terrific!

What a gorgeous portrait.

I wish for a little more space on the left side of the photo and a little less on the right. But maybe you were restricted by the scene itself.

Ah, it makes much more sense now.

But I clicked on this thumbnail without knowing who or what Spike is, because I already really liked this photo as an abstract. I particularly like the shallow DOF.

I love this perspective. Often I feel like photos taken beneath bridges make them look heavy and clunky, but yours make this bridge really look like it is soaring.

Very nice job on mainintaing detail in the shadows under the bridge while not washing out the sky!

My favorite part of this photo is where the shadows fall on the ground in such interesting lines. Great eye.

Nice! I love these unbranded crayons. They really let you focus on the rainbow without it having to be like a Crayola ad.

This is incredible. The colors are so bright, yet it's not a highly saturated photo. And you are lucky to have this street so empty for you to compose your shot! This is wonderful... it makes me want to go see it in person!
