Rex,
Beautiful and an imposing windmill. With the mordern cars arround - The old and the new look goes well with the quiant windmill, as well.
If you want to see more dramatic pic of windmill - please a take a look at Teunis Haveman's portifolio. He is the master of windmill pics.
I also have a some working details of windmills in my website http://www.kentheteaman.com/gallery/album09
Your will enjoy,
regards, ken.

looks good Rex...the angle you were viewing him from gives him a large statue-like presence in the shot..the background also looks good as well, I can see some subtle color shifts around the edges of the background..if you shoot RAW..and use PShop CS, try using the lens correction panel ... seems to work well,
Chris

Pat is right Rex, PS is not that daunting when you get into it. For making montages like this I use the extract tool for cutting out. With "Smart Highlight" switched on you can get some really intricate cut outs. Have a look at http:/www.usefilm.com/image547517.html http:/www.usefilm.com/image490098.html These are a couple that I've done. BTW, this is a great image. The heron alone is a fabulous capture. Well done. And I like what you've done with it. Den

Rex, Are you ising PhotoShop? If so use feathering when when outlining you subject. You'll have to play with the setting to find the right amount of feathering. then, instead of cutting or copying use the marqee tool to mask or protect your subject. erase what you don't want, Now copy the subject to a new layer over your background. Now use "multiply" to blend in you subject.
My apologize if you allready know this technique. If not, Have fun...
