WOW... so surreal... I disagree though, I think the light in the corner and the flare really makes this picture stand out from most lightning shots. Personally I find the bottom a little distracting... maybe a slight higher crop leaving some vegetation in the shot but removing the orange lines would bring it to perfection.

I cant tell you how many times I have tried to get this shot, and only to watch them come out horrible. This is by far the best one in my opinion. I wish that you could hear the tremdous amount of noise that accompanies the flames at this level.
Thank you

Thank you Gilberto and Jim. What you cant learn from just looking at the picture is that the planes engines are at full throttle with a sound that I can only compare to the space shuttle on take off. When the "shooter" in the yellow shirt touches his hand to the deck and raises it back up, another man triggers the catapult that launches the aircraft.

Beautiful bridge indeed. And, quite a nice example for not sticking to the rules (about moving the horizon to 1/3 or 2/3 of the height) for creating a great visual effect.

Thank you, Gilberto. I agree with you and think it makes a nice abstract more than anything. How the sun came through the water as it shot up just gave it something extra. I plan on trying to take more as the opportunity comes to me.

Also this image could gain some 'punch' by increasing the contrast and sharpening (If you are familiar with Photoshop: that would mean pulling up the shadows marker in the 'levels' window, and applying the 'unsharp mask' filter).

Nice colours! I would suggest to crop the image a little tigther (i.e. remove to remove the dark, less interesting parts) and to cranck up the contrast. It increases the impact of the image, in my opinion.
