I like it just the way it is...besides rules were made to be broken as long as u do it tastefully as u did here!
The dof is carefully and skillfully selected as is the perspective! the wide angle works perfectly!
Its always refreshing to see photographs which the photographer actually studies before shooting
well done 7/7

What a great moment captured! It almost doesn't look real - like a painting! Well Done.

works well as a black and white, i enjoy the capture very much, perfect timing when the rider has both hands on the board, and the fellow waiting for the next wave is looking right at the rider in ahh.... well done,

phil swanson

G'day, Steve. probably a good decision to take photos instead. I reckon you surf photo are magazine material. You should try selling them to popular surf magazines, mate. Cheers, Art

What a great shot Steve! I am horrible at night shots...I just can't seem to get my mind wrapped around the interplay between my lenses and camera. I am looking to get a faster lens and hope that it helps a bit with a higher ISO rating. Great picture!

Nice one, Steve. Looks like he has some hidden power plant on that board. And the guys in the water look pretty awestruck as well.

Looks fine in B&W. From a purely artistic point of view, I'd perhaps like to see a tad more of the white water at left and lose the guys who have not yet caught a wave.

just trying something different roger. Upped the contrast and applied an orangey sepia like filter. I also cloned out power lines, some people on the beach and all but 1 car in the carpark (i was a little bored).

You dont think it works? Its funny, on my monitor which i think i have calibrated fairly well i liked but on another monitor didnt like it so much.

Yes, phil, thats correct. The noise was terrible, ive learned the hard way about digital cameras, long exposure and noise... nothing beats film for these sort of shots. I tried to reduce the noise as much as possible but there was still a lot there. I added the lens flare, to liven up the shot a bit and cause its a bit different to have a lens flare on a night time shot.

im thinking the blur and other filters might be to cover up the digital noise that must have come from such a long exposure.... thats just my guess??? otherwise i love long exposures with star trails
