What a great photo you have here...
I love the movement of the surfer. And the special touch is the big ship in the background.

Congrats.

Thanks Margaret. I didnt crop out the ship as it is what Newcastle is known for. You see, the Hunter Valley (near newcastle) is a huge coal mining area. There is a big port at newcastle where the ships load the coal. At any time from the beach you can see up to 20 ships waiting to enter the port and load up. So for that reason... i thought with a photo of the world's best surfer, i had to 'newcastleise' it.

if it wasnt for this i probably would have went for the crop.

wonderful capture steve, i dont know what it is but when there is a tanker in the background it adds a lot to the image... great color, composition and capture of kelly peaking out of the tube... did you really have the 18 to 55 on the cam though??? waves must be really close to shore huh?

WOnderful capture, but - wow how frightening, You got the sparkling water so well. DId you try a crop taking out the ship - maybe make it look even more dramatic mmmmhh tried it, not sure now

Yeah, my sons always teased me about 'my one-eyed girlfriend' or that my little Kodak was surgically implanted to my hand....UNTIL...I won a $4,000 Grand Prize in a photo contest! The next morning, I went and bought a 20D, and my boys developed a keener interest in borrowing my Kodak now.

Thanks for the constructive criticism! Yes, i agree, i should have put a border on it. dont know why i didnt to be honest.

And i didnt even notice the missing tile! it was the light shining thought the door, making it light... i should pay more attention to detail. lol.

Hi Steve - prefer this one to the first one. Agree with Michele that the wall is a little distracting - although a simple black frame would seperate it from the border and keepthe image together. There is a small triangle of missing tile that I thought was also a little distracting.

I had a little go with these two things - see what you think.

I really like the geometry of the diagonal tiles - and the wall and furniture. the make a pleasing contrast to the flowing lines of the model, her hair and her clothes.

Great work, well done.

Steve
