Thanks Lori for you most delightful comment! I never really thought about the horizon, it felt better I guess - I think that if I did it in thirds there would have been a surplus in either grass or sky. So thirds would have indeed killed it. Thanks again! ~ Gj

Thanks Kurt for your comment. Likewise congradjulations with your FDotD. This image is interesing to me because I always take pictures of the flowers I buy for my girlfriend as an ode to their beauty, and everytime I throw them away when they're completely wilted, I silently thank them for their temporary beauty. In this photo, you show that death also has its subtle beauty... it is what gives life its value. Nice work on the desaturation. Cheers - Gj

Thanks Craig. Indeed, Patrick was right about the crop; like you said the petal intrudes on the privacy of this flower. The crop also makes it more intimate.
Cheers ~ Gj

Indeed sad and thought-provoking. As I stood there, I could not help but think what it must be like for those in the gulf to sit in the desert in a tank and be shot at. Thanks for your comment

Thanks Barry, the footprints are distracting indeed they take away the dynamism slightly, I was already worried about that. I'm happy you mention that, I'm also glad you like the 'dynamism'; I was subtly quietened by it's stale authority, the way it sat there in the sand. Cheers ~Gj

Nice mood and very well composed... it took me a while to start seeing things: there's the criss-cross geometry of the pillars and the lights, the movement of the van and the man, and a subtle signature of a graffiti artist 'bad' on the right side of the two framing pillars. You're a good photographer.

Very good conceptual photo... as a geologist I can also see the millions of years old sedimentary layer stick out at an angle of about 45 degrees. Nice work.

I am happy with the composition too... but I'm bound to be biased. Most of the time I do not think of the rule of thirds. Glad that you like it.
