I hear you. My shutter is not going, but I think I've pounded on it enough. I will be getting the 2 battery pack vertical grip, camerarmor, and I have a joby gorrilapod which I think I'll wrap around three hiking poles for a quick tripod.

Hey Tom:
Reading through the comments, I can tell you that the auto-balance was twisting this image to give the light a bluish cast. Because the canyon walls are so red and yellow, somewhere along the line an auto-balance feature pushed a lot of cyan into the photo in an attempt to average the tones back to white.
In this location, the red and yellows do dominate, so maybe an adjustment back to the warmth is needed.
I do want to say that your contrast is fairly spectacular, and the lighting is really well done.
I've manually rebalanced the skylight to a white by dumping a little yellow and a lot of red into the photo. This is also closer to how I recall it looked from my visit.
I also have a few shots from Antelope in my portfolio.

Hey thanks Ina.
It took a little bit of additional programming on my part to make the box size just right in my eyes to keep the mosaic pattern while still revealing the details of the photograph as a recognizable image. I'm glad you like it.

Hi Jan:
Yeah, so busy with work and unpacking due to a move I have not taken any shots in the last 6 weeks. I am still just goofing with some custom programming until then, mulling around, trying to get some neat effects.
Ha - no fractals in this one, but it does have a random component and some math!
Thanks for the comments, with a laptop screen I can't get any sense of whether this is balanced - I was just guessing based on my PS level.

Ha, I had not yet recoded the application based on your input yet when I created this. Today I went back in and started to add my own little changes to the program. This time I limited the size of the boxes so I wouldn't get any large ones blobbing out the photo. I should be posting some new runs soon.
Glad you liked this one though. Still testing this out.

Photography must be a very important part of your life, your shots are done lovingly and with great care. I think your passion translates well into the art.
Besides, who else but a dedicated artist would take self-portraits on their birthday?

A comment from Marc Adamus is good enough for me. Just about sums it up, good colors and nice and simple. One for that new website, which is very well done and tasteful. I like the logotype as well.

I've been there and did not recognize the location until you wrote it down in the comments. The IR work makes for a real "dreamlike" image.
Has great tones, makes it feel more timeless and a lot older then it is when you drive up and walk around with the other modern day folks.
I think that this is your art - finding the timeless out there in real life.

Looking at this again given your comment I think I understand what I need to do. The boxes are randomly generated, but since this is made up of 5 seperate runs layered together next time I can keep running until I get a cleaner look around the areas of interest.
