A nice place and capture, I think the lower right part of the photo needed to be more bright.
Regards.

Much better, it has more pop now. I just posted one called Trees from Yosemite (thought I've give this site another chance )

Really nice crisp photograph with the wildflowers in the foreground. I was trying the same techniques this summer. Looks like you took the photograph in the afternoon when the clouds start to form over the mountains.

Neato.

Indeed.. the image I originally posted had very little processing applied. I have revamped it... using the techniques you mention... oddly, probably while you were typing it... and yes... now it has more Pop... and the spec is gone... :-)

Thanks for the suggestion!

JT, looking at the image after I posted it, it is now over-sharpended, since you probably had already used USM or it's "pixulated" (if there is such as word

JT, I like the picture, but besides the spot (which I get on my 10D quite often as well), the image lacks some "pop". Of late I received some great advice from some very good professional photographers and their comment was the same regarding my images (I don?t post here very often any more, since I rarely received any comments and none since I received the advice). They told me to increase my contrast and use curves to adjust light. If you?re shooting in RAW, use the processor as much as possible before going to PS. I also used an add-on program called ?Cannon 10D CSPRO? for sharpening. I took the liberty of doing a 30 second adjustment to your image (with more time, a much better job could be done). It's, of course, only a suggestion for your consideration.

Jim, I know what you mean. I spent the first night there on the west side and awoke to a coating of ash on my tent. It was upsetting.... but at the same time it's something that's a natural process for the forest to be "healthy".

the bears were on edge, though... caused a bit of a challenge for some of the rangers and people.

Thanks for your comment John. I plan on working with the color saturation a bit to bring out more of the trees. Unfortunately, the smoke creates a major obstacle...

My favorite national park. Those fires made me sad. I want to go back as soon as I can. I was there the year before the fires. Such an amazing place.

I like this composition very much. It gives a very different viewpoint of the canyon that what people usually see I think.
