Very good start, very sharp branches, you did a real good job here, Frank! I like to see colorful photos made with Hoya R72, I loved the brown sky, the white grass and the light red leaves! Have you made your composition without the IR filter? Well, it's not so easy to make a good composition without using the viewfinder. Was it a RAW photo and with the custom WB?

Thanks for telling me about your IR shot.

Regards

Ola Luiz,

Wonderful photo Gust@vo! Very nice sunset colors and perfect capture of the birds. I'd like to be there and see this with my own eyes.

I'm sorry, but I could't criticize this photo.

Frank,

I seems that the K100D is a very good camera for IR shots. Look here: http://www.dimagemaker.com/article.php?articleID=880

I also so in dpreview that the K100D have a manual WB, I think you can archive similar results.

Please, send me a message when you have some infra-red shots uploaded, I'd like to see them.

Good luck in your photos!

Best regards,
Gustavo

Thanks Frank!

This photo was taken with a Nikon D50 and a Hoya R72 infra-red filter. This filter blocks almost all the visible light but allows infra-red light pass. A sunlight white-balance would result in a photo with red-scale colors, but in this case I have used a custom white-balance (WB PRE in D50) and adjusted it in a white wall. The blue leaves and dark yellow sky are the characteristics of an near infra-red photo with the custom white-balance.

Try "hoya r72" or "infra-red" in google ;)

Belissima PB!

Thanks Rick for the comment! Well, I can't remember very well all the things I done in this photo, but the red sky and b+w foliage was done using phothoshop "channel mixer" and "hue and saturation".

I saw some of your IR pictures now. All of them are B+W IR shots, so I'm afraid that it will be very hard to you to extract "red sky + B+W foliage" from your shots. Maybe your camera is not so sensitive to nIR colors, maybe your filter is so strong that your camera can only catch nIR colors, maybe both :)

I'm attaching the original results (from the camera, with just minimum corrections as WB). It is not so hard when you have colors.

Cool! What Hoya filter are you using, R72 RM90? I see you have only B+W IR.
