Btw. the other day I went to the local photostore and waiting for my turn opend a book about photography tech. and surprise, one of your photos (old lady with a dog) and your explanations of cropping and stuff. Erik, Metz is a german flash that goes with Canon cameras (C series). It does the same job as Canon flashes for.......half the price

Neil, the terme ND filter goes for neutral density which means you put something dark infront of your lens to allow you to have a longer exposure time then normaly. Just wait till the end of the afternoon and "play" with your aperture. Of course you wont get this with your f stop set to 2.8
So to answer you, the result was totally wanted and the cam set up for it
