Great shot, Ut. The only thing though I'm not sure about is the green on the left hand side of the photo. I'm trying to make up my mind whether it adds extra interest to the photo or is a little distracting as the rest of the background is dark. I guess though if I can't make my mind up it's not that important!
But the way you've captured the orchid petals so that they look like fine paper is truly great.

Another excellent picture with great detail. I've just looked through your portfolio, Ut and it's superb! I adore orchids (I have a few round the house) but unfortunately mine have failed to flower this year, I think due to a house move. So I'm only left with the garden plants at the mo'!

Gorgeous orchid shot. I agree with Bill's comment about the flower spike. But nonetheless, the composition is good and the orchid detail is sharp. Well done!

Hello Brigitte,
Thanks for your kind comments. Regarding the background & how did I shoot these images at the show: I bring with me a small fold-out black background (a car's sun-shade). After setting up the camera on the tripod, and choosing angle, I fold out the background slip it behind the orchid and push the shutter release button in one swift move. The setup usually takes up 95% of the time, slipping the background behind the orchid & taking the picture only takes 15 seconds. And it really helps getting to know the orchids owner, tell him your intention and share with him the photos. I find most of the time, the owner really welcome to the idea.

What a beautiful youngster. I love the cheeky hairy peduncle and petals. I guess this will be a Paphiopedilum callosum, do you agree? Well chosen black background. How could you do this? When I was at the last exposition there were so many people I could hardly move not to mention changing the background. It makes a nice contrast. It is good to see pictures of another orchid addict.
