Another bit of advice is to keep the entire body of the child in the picture- including arms, hands, etc. I've also found that a stretchy type of material doesn't look folded- or just scrunch it up to make it look textured! Anyhow- the expression on this is absolutely priceless!

Wow! Stunning and dramatic piece. I agree with the other two comments about lighting, but that's not something that struck me until after I read them...

This baby is adorable!! His expression really caught my eye.
I have a few simple suggestions for a more "studio look" that you were going for...
Next time, try turning his body so it is more at a 45 degree angle to the camera. Take off his shoes (baby's toes are adorable! plus the soles of shoes tend to be a little distracting) and tuck in the foot that is closest to the camera so that it is touching the other leg. You can also get more of a "backdrop" look by changing the depth of field - I think increasing the distance between the baby and the sheet would help.
Anyway, try those suggestions - hopefully they will work. And with such a cute kid, how can you ever stop taking pictures? ;-)

You're on the right track... I think a little fill flash would be helpful to get rid of some of the distracting shadows. Composition is nice. Won't be long before you have that framable piece!
