Dave: I'm still experimenting with the new camera but it was fun to find this little guy. The flash was actually off for this shot but the sun was just right. Thanks for the good words.

Hey Dave: I didn't even know they were in the mountains as we never see them here. It's a bit warmer over by Aspen which may be the reason. Thanks for the kind remarks.

Thanks Dwight. He was a wonderful little subject. After a while he just ignored me and my flash. This is a crop so I probably could easily clean up the edge. I wish you could see a 100% crop of this shot, it is really quite sharp.

Michael: No, the wife got tired of tossing the birds past the front of the lens, though. Just kidding. There were around 50,000 geese in the area. No patience required at all, just have a large memory card. Thank you for the kind comment, however.

Pretty stunning capture! Fine detail, excellent colors, and the dof really works on this. The only thing I see that I might recommend would be to clean (remove) the two little sprigs that creep into the frame on the right hand side above the major limb in the background. Even with it in the photo I still think it's a 7++ Dwight

Very nice capture! I like the colors and detail. Cute little bird and the ISO 400 looks like 100 to my eye (but nailing the exposure, helps with this). Very clean! Dwight

Mike: This kit did eventually step out of the rocks after checking me out for a minute or two. The vixen mother wasn't about so it was being bad in doing so. They are an amazing blend of dog and cat which makes them very appealing to watch. Mom moved them somewhere else now and we haven't found them again. Thank you very much for your kind and thoughtful remarks.

Fred -- My favorite of the batch! Your composition in this image makes it easy to attribute emotion to this young kit. He appears timid and shy. He looks like he wants to come out and play, but will take a moment to warm to the idea. His eyes suggest he's like the timid hound who is just waiting for the invitation to romp!
Nice use of vignetting to center the viewer's attention on the fox.
Great capture, -Mike.
