Dan, I like the idea here, but its way to far away. You need to figure out a different angle to show how big that bank is. Its HUGE, but you can't see the skater and what he's doing at all right now.

Dan, I like same type of photography, so I'll give you advice not to include unnecessary areas into photo. With your zoom lens I would zoom into to include area starting under advertisment to exclude this strange bridge like thing, and "crop" sligtly from above also.
Also faster prime wide angle lenses could be really helpful for night photography. You will get better datail and color. And take filter from your lens if you used it during daytime.
Nice long time exposure shot.

Man, if that's what they looked like in the city I can imagine the gorgeous colour that would have been exploding in the sky somewhere with less light pollution! I am jealous that you've got so much colour there... I've really only seen the Northern Lights a handful of times and never with such strong colour.

Nice DOF here to pull the bird away from the background. I think that getting a bit closer would have been nice as well, like you mentioned, but I also like having the surroundings too... gives a nice feel for the location.

The lines in this image are great... the sun lights them up perfectly to let my eyes roam around. Too bad about the sun flare on the right side... I learned that it's better to shoot with a prime lens when looking directly into the sun... less flare than with a zoom. The colour is very eye catching!

I think that the light leak would have been okay if it hadn't been right over the faces... off to one side might have given it a "glow" that would have heightened the shot. Hope you got more than just one... they look like highly photogenic people!

Wow, 6 x 6 colour slides! Bet they look spectacular... I see the speed was 1/30th, but I think you've frozen the action with flash, right? At least I think I see hot-spot reflections on the metal panel (LHS) and the side panel of the car (RHS), and the light/shadow on the face look like flash. It's possible to get more even illumination if you can put light-coloured panels out of the frame where they'd reflect light into it. Also a slightly different angle might have separated more between the skate boarder and those rather confusing lights off there behind him in the middle distance. But this is a difficult and rewarding subject. I'm fascinated by the whole series...

Now here's a shot I can relate to. I love my fisheye (very simiilar, at 16mm, to yours) and know how hard they are to use effectively. I know nothing about skate boarding, though... Here, I think there's a bit too much foreground, which tends to de-emphasize the figure. Maybe, if you have a good relationship with the skate boarder, try to get a little closer to him at some critical moment of arrested motion? I guess he'd have to be pretty skillful too. You also have to beware of over-bright skies when you're shooting into the light as you are here. Of course if you have the light behind you your shadow is going to be in the picture for sure! Fisheyes are hard!! It's all very well to suggest fill-in flash, but there's no flash unit going to be able to give you the angular coverage you would need.

Dan,
I like the angle of this alot. I really wish there was a flash that was there to light up the skaters front side more. Perhaps then you could have closed down to ge those nifty clouds exposed right too.
Cheers, Toby

Great night action shoot! the composition is excellent and you have also manage to take quite sharp picture even at night. Well done! The depth of field is good as i can see the blur background and the man. Excellent colour especially the man jean. This look like a jean commercial shoot! Great work!
Best regard from Joe!
