interesting idea..i see u used a low aperture to get the backgroudn out of focus...but it seems this photo is lacking things of interest...the main subject is not focused enough, and well lit enough, it seems dull and muddy. the backrground contrasts too much with the foreground to give it an uncomfortbale feeling. the red pines in the background clash with the grey of foreground, and seem to bleed together, watch for that...if u took your compositiond own two feet i think you could get those trees out of there. i see you trying to use the 1/3 trick of the frame...very nice. you should have place the nest a inch or two to the right, to line it up exactly at 1/3...try to think of it as a piece of paper folded in thirds...you want to have the middle of your subject in the middle of that line. if that makes any sense. good luck on future photos. good try

I believe the flower to be a Trillium which is a wildflower that is decreasing in the wild in the USA, especially in the South. I have yet to see one in nature... so I am jealous! Where is Door County? I may have to trek into the area to see if I can find one growing in the wild!

Your photograph is expertly done, and very pleasing.

i would suggest a lighter depth of field...what aperture did you use? you should try to shoot close ups at about f/4...depending on light of course...maybe getyourslef a light meter for help. nice to see you on here kelly welcome...

Very nice flower image Kelly. The flower itself is a bit to much centered in the frame. Wonderful lighting and very good depth of field. I do wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New-Year from the Netherlands....Best regards Harry
