Very mysterious... do you notice that the errant photo has a small mountain rising from the water. Somewhat reminicent of the island of Montreal as seen from the south shore.
Amazing the things you will find on the "net."
I like your intial post just fine.

I like to say I was born on the side of an extinct volcano in the middle of a giant river. Montreal is, like much of Canada, steeped in geography. It is where I was born and I grew up just the other side of the river between those two bridges.
Home and beyond... for me at least, no other view could hold this title so well.

This is a very nice graphic and a very pleasing photo to view. The balance is perfect. A great take on a familiar subject. The black and white conversion was a good choice here.

This is lovely Mary Sue. What a special moment and a great photograph. I love the expression which seems to be on the little bird's face.
It is as if it were saying, "Life's a b***h, but what are you gonna do?"
Great to be back!

A lovely flower to be sure, but the photo leaves me wanting more. If you grow these yourself is it not possible to get a little more light on it?
The photo seems soft (possibly because of the long exposure) and the large area of dark above the subject seems unnecesary.

Having been away from Usefilm for a while, I missed seeing your photos... which never cese to amaze me.
In this photo, I love how much expression you have captured in the artists face with nothing but his profile and his work to read from.

Very nice Bill... although these bugs have become a scourge around here (South Eastern Ontraio) since their artificial introduction from Asia to control aphids a few years ago... our house is now crawling with them... don't get me wrong, I love ladybugs, but these guys I can live without.
I think to take this good shot to the next level, I would place the subjects a little more off centre and if you aren't adverse to Photoshoping it, get rid of the reflections which are making you the secondary subject in this photo.

Once again, I like the attachment better. But this, time, the ps work takes the image to the next level. The attaachment is my favourite of the posts I have just commented on...
I will come back later when I have more time... in the meantime, check out Bobby C. for some similar work with slide montage...

Thanks for your comments Bill...
I have to say I prefer the original sandwich version of Birch Grove (as included in your attachment) over this cropped and worked piece. The earlier one captures the serenity of the place whereas the posting above seems filled with panic... like the view one might experience running through the woods to escape a bear... the last thing I ever saw

Looking at this on a Mac which is brighter than a PC, the footprints are extremely subtle. The shrub on the right is critical for holding attention long enough to read the subtext of the footprints. At least on my computer, this secondary element builds upon a simple but effective initial impression. I wouldn't change it at all.

This is really interesting. The photo has immediate impact - A strong sence of time and place. For peope who would rather be sailing I'm sure it will lift their hearts. For you, its just another shot of a sailboat in a pretty seascape. Proof that we must photograph for ourselves and not for others. I get the feeling you are somewhat stuck on this image, wanting to love it and not really knowing how because it isn't coming from your heart. Poor Kim. This is a great shot. Just move on to the next thing you love.
