Thanks Carol, it's always nice to hear from you. It arose out of a few things, and I had wanted to do a mirror shot from a while.
Basically, I found out something (though I'm gathering it might have been wrong, we haven't had a chance to really talk in a while, she's been busy) from someone, a relative of a good friend, that seemed to be fairly impactful on the life of said good friend, and the good friend hadn't told me herself. It was mostly disappointment and bitterness, only fleeting but strong at the time. I've tried to start controlling my emotions more, and not leap to conclusions
Volatility can only get me into trouble, I know. But it's useful for trying new creative things, helps focus the mind a lot.
But thanks for your comment! It's always great to get feedback from you, really helps me to grow, and know what you like and don't like

Thanks Ken, it's certainly a difficult thing to deal with. It's far easier, and far more tempting, to be destructive, but I've done that in the past, and it usually comes back to bite me in the rear

I can understand the feeling. Right now I am feeling like that.
Glad to see some constructive use of that 'disappointment' feeling. Many people vent it in a distructive way. Its never worth it.
Hope you will begin to feel better soon.
regards, ken.

Well, you'll just have to come out to Australia sometime, and I'll show you some koalas There's an animal sanctuary about 10 minutes from home, where they have koalas, kangaroos and emus.

Thank you Carol. I was trying to experiment more with post-processing, and I found the radial blur worked quite nicely, though I had to recentre the shot to make it work.
Your feedback's always appreciated, thank you.

Beautiful composition, the way you have given this an out of focus and a painting feel lends to the tiredness in this player, very nice. Alison

Thanks Tiro, I didn't even think of that. The only change I made was on the light levels, I probably should have done more. Your idea's a good one, and it would be good practice for my photoshop skills.

this is truly a great capture. A very happy moment, and the joy in her eyes is splendid. i would have used photoshop (or another toool) to blur out the T-shirt in the background more, the "buffalo" mark is a bit distracting, but this is just nitpicking. :-)

Thanks for the feedback. An interesting idea you had there, I can see what you mean. I'm surprised the image came out so well. It's a surprisingly clean look to the river, it often looks very brown (the mud gets stirred up constantly and never gets a chance to settle).
