I will be so glad when adjucators of photography climb out from under the rock of the european school which perpetuates scmaltzy kitzch imagery such as this nonsenical non feeling non engagement stuff and gets on with some real photography. The choreography is heavy handed and lost in the 70's dare I say the sixties as is the set in which the actor is staged... apallingly gimmicky tugging at the heartstrings of mainstream its no wonder so many were sucked in to the booby trap that is the cultural ambush that you reiterate. This image is as technically bereft as emotionally bankrupt

that's great. I'd have cropped the thin sliver of film rebate off the top though... This is the kind of image I'd print very large, maybe 12x16 or so. very well done.

I've come back to look at this photo several times in the last two days. Somehow it's charged with a tremendous amount of energy, but one thing that keeps distracting me is the hot spot in the top corner. Any cropping would destroy your composition, but have you considered burning the background (the buildings) in order to isolate the boy a litte more, and thus counter ballance that hotspot. Hope you don't mind, but I tried a quick run at it in photoshop and think it adds just a little more punch to this already spectacular image.
