Thank you all for your comments. (-: In fact, the heron was in the process of opening out its wings, hence I couldn't get the sharpness I'd have wanted. However, the out-of-focus aspect of the rest of the image is intentional (done through tweaking; the original is in focus). Though the bird's feathers are quite a lovely colour naturally, the tweaking brought them to these outlandish (good description, Ian (-: ) hues, which I decided I quite liked. (-: It's meant as a kind of fantasy image. (-:

a great topic: the vain trial to find female identity in the mirrors.
I'm impressed by your realization.

Donna,
I think you have a great idea here.
The only thing I might change is the color and position of the baby.
I would like to see the child blend into the picture more and I would prefer to see the rest of his or her face.
I don't think I would change anything else ,the rest isa beautifully composed and well thought out montage.
Just my opinion others may think it is just fine the way it is.

lose it, quick!
one burden less at the day of judgement
(I'd leave the head untouched, imho. it's just a feeling, no full blown art theory: and this feeling tells me: don't touch the angel's head!!
never!

Teunis and Marusnik, thank you for your comments. I wasn't sure about the top crop. Initially all of the angel's head was visible, but then I felt I wanted to have part of it outside the frame. In any case, I'm open to other possibilities. (-:
