Glad you like it Steve.

I didn't expect anyone else would enjoy this one.

'A terrible beauty is born...'

Not quite what Yeats meant but the sight of a croc with open jaws kind of fits with the line...

Good capture.

Now that makes a REAL contrast to the usual cockatoo picture involving chains or cages! Any slight focus problem is entirely forgivable!

Hi Linda.

I thought there were only 5 of them, but you're right, on closer inspection there are more. I can see 8 now.

Rob:

This picture is wonderful. It is fun to look at more closely, as more birds pop into view! The plant looks almost unreal...

Thanks Mel. I think you're right about the name.

We also saw one of the nests on the banks of the river where any croc could make a snack of it.

Wow, you wouldn't know that some birds are shy of humans!! Only two days ago I saw another photo of one of these, feeding it's young. Also built very close to humans, in that it was on a verandah. It seems that its called the Yellow-Bellied Sunbird, and its a honeyeater.

Re: colours - it's spring in South Australia, about the only time we get much colour here.

I'll have to find a good shot of the tall red/pink veldtgrass we have growing around the farm, it doesn't last long.
