What makes this for me is the woman to the upper-right of the two women who are talking - somehow I find her a pleasant side-view...

Patricia; a nice pleasant "slice of life" photo. The two ladies chatting look so natural it's almost like being there. At first glance, I was inclined to want to crop some of the top, but on balance, you did it right as the extra space at top provides worthwhile context. Cheers. Craig

This photo has a very special attraction apart from all the pastries. The reflection from the window creates an unreal feeling, shutting the wievers out and making us realize that we are not invited to the party. I kind of like that illusion. A great capture.

There are times when I HATE the tiny UF thumbnails, which really penalize images that lack a dominate central subject. This one, for instance. So easy to overlook in the thumbnail, yet such a tasty treat for those who look. Can I finish this without making some kind of quip about French tarts? Probably not. I vote with John. An excellent street shot worthy of Atget, Cartier-Bresson, et al.

Hi Patricia!
Lately, I've been trying to make sense of the "metaphysical" writings of Giorgio de Chirico. Part of de Chirico's his recipe for a metaphysical painting of a room is that the space should always include a window looking looking out. But what to make of the metaphysics of a window looking inward? Perhaps there's some significance in the fact that the shutters are open, but the curtains are drawn? And what of the fading star chalked on the wall? And the dappled shadows eclipsing the living plant? Eeeeeekkkkk! I'm in a metaphysical muddle this morning. Metaphysical musings aside, I love the simple charm of this Dordogne scene. --jim

The lighting and presentation are beautiful. I am particularly taken with the arrangement of the glasses - they make a very pleasing focal point.
