Hi Roger; this is a very nice composition and I like the subject too-- a Japanese gentleman intent at his work. I think you'll pick up telephoto use quickly-- guess I've been using (especially) telephoto zooms for so long that I don't think twice about the fact that it's on a telephoto setting. Thanks for the welcome back to UF-- had a 2 month+ cold. Cheers. Craig

Hi Chris; although this photo is good in what is essentially B&W, I totally agree with your decision to tone it-- makes for a much warmer more inviting scene. Nice work. Thanks for your warm welcome back too. I've had a bad cold for over 2 months and just no energy. Cheers. Craig

Hi Amna; this is gorgeous and very nicely done. The silhouette stands in stark contrast to the surroundings. I think you are surely one of the most creative photographers on UF!! Thanks for your kind comments tonight. Cheers. Craig

Mike-- what a wonderful shot!!! Makes the heart of an old retired soil scientist "soar like a hawk". This is gorgeous in B&W-- could go on a soil science book, but also make a neat abstract. Mahalo. Craig

Hi Rob; an outstanding job with foreground silhouette-- very graphic-- and also w/ colors. Wonderful composition-- this would make a great poster I think. Cheers. Craig

A very cool shot Tim. I really like the shimmering color of the water and the great depth you've created with the nose of your kayak. I did some kayaking in my younger years (rivers and lakes) and this brings back memories. Cheers. Craig

Hi Mike; this is really a cool shot. There's something sensual about (especially) the fender curves, and the headlights, bumber and grill don't detract from that character. You must have been up on something high to take this?

Bad colds up here;>(. Hi to D. Cheers. Craig

Roger; I agree, rather unusual sculptures, but what struck me was that w/o the Japanese script on the left, this could have been taken in the USA, ie a commentary on humanity. But, the subject is interesting and the composition good.

Thanks for your ususal insightful comments on my fishing boat pics-- I wanted to show the boats in their environment/weather. In fact I have a horizontal w/ only the trawler Decorah on the extreme right of the frame that I like;>) Cheers. Craig

Teunis; you've managed absolutely perfect composition of this semi-abstract landscape, and I think it fits the Alternative Perspective category perfectly. Very well seen and captured my friend. Cheers. Craig

An excellent scenic Chris-- I like those standing rocks and assume they were put that way by humans?! The color saturation is incredible-- is that the character of the 8700? Is your D70 in for repair? Thanks for comments on my foggy boats photo. Cheers. Craig

This is a very intriguing shot-- it's actually somewhat surrealistic and I can't imagine your position when taking it?? --possibly an airplane? Anyway, very nicely captured and the soft hazy colors are nice for this subject. Cheers. Craig

A wonderful shot Roger! The trees are stately and I like the way the branches and fill the sky-- and w/o their leaves, it gives a sense of winter coldness.

Thanks for comments on my fog photo, but guess I didn't state it very clearly-- the Decorah is the featured boat on the left-- not just the stern of a boat on the far left, and BTW, I included that for a sense of depth. I did take others w/o out it. Cheers. Craig
