Marion:
The above photo is a two part process. Made a blured print and then placed the object on the print and rephotographed.
Thanks for your inquiry

Beautiful colors in this elegant composition, Marvin!
The use of DOF is perfect....I'm trying to figure out if the blurred flowers in the background are the same...did you combine two pics here? Or did you place the two flowers on another picture?
*puzzled*

This is my favorite yet, Marvin!!! i won?t spend time on why it works because it combines all your best talents in superb results that need no elaboration. However, one thing, and it is purely personal, but nonetheless...The text that includes your name, etc. is tastefully done and actually a well-conceived part of the composition but i don?t like personal advertising in a photograph. It then assumes the rather lowly identity of a poster or a business card. When you have breathed life and a multitude of dimensions into an image, as you have done here i believe that you exalt the elements that previously had another identity. The image has a quality i truly feel to be a kind of life form. It has dignity and meaning that was of you but is not you. To me, you diminish and prostitute the integrity of your own creation by insinuating yourself into the image in this way. Please forgive me, as i said, this is a personal thing to me. This is an absolutely stunning image. Congratulations! kat-

Hi, Marvin: the composition of this photo is excellent, as usual. i like the crop very much. It?s every bit what one leaves out as much as what one leaves in, that creates a distinctive image. It takes nerve to slice photographic elements that one could just as easily, (and more safely and traditionally) leave in. You have lots of courage and an unfailing eye in that respect. You create interest and achieve balance with these deceptively easy compositions. Balance is so critical. It allows the viewer to exhale and enjoy what the beauty of an image, secure that the photographer isn?t going to do the artistic equivalent of dropping her on her head. In this image, the gingko leaf seems oddly maternal as it supports the smaller leaf. The gingko has muted coloring and an altogether broader more substantial feel than the small multi-colored leaf, enhancing a nuturing impression to me. i like your darkness in this image. The slight glitter in the background is very different and provides the perfect texture for this photograph. i am thinking that perhaps the small leaf is a bit too saturated on the left side. The colors almost seem to be bleeding.

You are a master of color and texture, that is clear. i like the treatment you have given the last two submissions. You elevate a macro of graffiti to pure abstraction as wonderful as any painting. AND you manage to give depth where it would be completely lacking. i like your subtle grasp of composition, specifically the location of the square in the exact center of the photo, regardless of what details actually lie within that frame. This is exciting to me and it causes me to look outside the square, into the shadows to find the rest of the image, to explore it and then to hop back into the square, enjoying the gush of bright color and shape even more. There are some dark areas in this image, Painterly Graffiti, and Folded Flower that i'm not sure i am comfortable with. i need some time to think about that. It is obviously deliberate but they somehow feel awkward to me. This is not a criticisum, just something i need to spend some time with. Best regards: kat~

this is one of your best. I love these colors together and the brightness is just right. Having them show through the border is a good additional touch. well done. Gil

Marvin this is nice work. For me it's full of feeling. There is something that makes me feel sadness for these three leaves. I like the subtle shades which are in harmony with the subject matter. Gil
