Oooohhhhh....Hugo's uploading and Petros is commenting! Things are back on track.
Neat graphic, love the lighting. Just asking myself...what the heck is it?

So how did you manage to get 3 cats to sit together so peacefully? LOL!! What a trio. Great shot, I'm only wanting the paw of the middle cat to not touch the edge.

Oh yes, when startled or feeling threatened they can scamper up a tree pretty quick. I've seen a couple of them over the years sitting atop fence posts, gazing out at the world. Just wish that twig weren't in front of his eye. Otherwise...nice shot!

I love the patterns and tones in this one. My only nit is the bright...whatever...coming down the mountain just left of center, I find that distracting. Otherwise, wonderful image.

I love the expressions, like Moe and Larry thinking about some mischief to get into. Sorry that you lost one. I'm thinking like Sunset Man, they're looking for food, as in other critters as roadkill. They're also opportunists. Fortunately they thrive in spite of our intrusions.

Armen, it was a long exposure. When the storm started I set up the tripod and camera by the window, and had the camera set on bulb setting at 5.6 aperture. I just held my finger on the shutter release until the sky lit up, and right after the flash let go. The storm lasted about 40 minutes, the sky lit up many times but there were only 2 good lightning flashes, most of the lightning was "in the clouds". The other nice flash came down behind that big birch tree on the right. I'm thinking of setting up some kind of portable and safe shelter where I can stand closer to the lake and get a better view.

One thing we get plenty of in Canada in winter, frost on our old style windows. Be sure to bundle up, I've had some awfully cold fingers and toes chasing after these with the macro lens on the outside of our "greenhouse porch". One February morning I got the tripod stuck to my upper lip when I leaned in a little too close examining patterns! LOL!
I watched that old movie once...Dr. Z-something, in Russia. Doc and some blondie are holed up in some old house in the middle of nowhere during some war (you see how interested I was in the story line) and in one of the scenes they showed the windows, covered with frost. I don't remember much else about the movie, but I remember those windows with the beautiful frost patterns, and thinking how I'd love to find frost patterns like that to shoot.

Thanks Tim and everyone who commented, I really lucked out on this cooperative bird. At the time I was wishing for blue skies, but the bright overcast ended up giving it more of a dramatic setting.
I like the D300, but so many buttons! I'm not a technically inclined person so it was a bit of a learning curve, and there's a lot of features I haven't even touched yet. A little bit at a time...

Wonderful. I love watching the deer leap. What's neat in this one is the brown of the deer matched by the grass and fenceposts, and the white of snow matched by their tails. Simple elements and so much motion. So...enjoying the snow? Guess I'd better not tell you about the summer heat we're suffering out east here.

Composition's a little too far to the left. Should be cropped down a bit, perhaps flip the image horizontally? Exposure's a little dark, but the saturation's not bad. ;-)

I love all your bird shots and really admire your ability to get a good clear-focused shot of them in flight, but this one with the moody sky and scenic background I particularly like! Well done!

I like the lighting in this one, the sense of depth and motion. I only want to crop the bottom a bit to focus in on the cart. The contrasts are interesting, not only in the exposure, but to see an old-fashioned donkey cart in front of modern buildings.

Purple is good, but I find the clear ones with the little silver flecks in them to be a bit more effective on bass. The small ones are good for perch.
