Hello, Kathleen! Thanks so much for your comments. This often happens to me with photos that I take.... I have a hard time settling on a final image, which is why I find usefilm so valuable.
This photo was taken on a business trip to phoenix, and unfortunatly I didn't have much time to explore anything other than the hotel grounds (where this statue was).
I am, though, returning to phoenix this next weekend where I hope to find some of that natural habitat you mentioned. I'm going to take your suggestion and try this same treatment on some more cactii of interesting shapes, and I look forward to seeing what you think about them.
Thanks again!

Heya Stephen.... I did actually choose the slight diagonal of the background. I didn't like it perfectly horizontal or vertical, and I thought the diagonal would be a subtle point. I'm glad you like it, simple as it may be.... perhaps on my next day of severe boredom I'll add a lime, or maybe be even more daring and try a non-citrus

I've spent a lot of time in Chicago looking for this shot
It is on the edge of over-exposed on the right-hand side, I think, but that may be enhanced by the scan. Other than that, the verticals are really very nice.
Perhaps on my next trip I'll find something to rival it!

Hey Charlie.... I really do like your corrected version better. I don't know why I couldn't get PS to do that for me. Of course, I was starting to go cross-eyed staring at it Thank you so much for the help and the suggestion. At least I know now what I'm shooting for is possible! I'm going to give this thing one more go around to see what I can make it do.

Hello, Karen! I would be tempted to crop this photo at the bottom edge of the lower bushes to get that extra patch of rock on the lower left out of the photo, and let it end w/ the bushes. Other than that, the storm rolling in, the surf washing up, I like it!!

I *really* like this one... the mood is amazing. The dark region in the upper left is a bit distracting, but to be honest, I had to look at it a while to notice. I think this is nice.

Nice photo! I do, however, think the orange lines in teh border are (for me at least) distracting. Actually, now that I look at it again, it is just the outer orange line that I find distracting

i really like this photo, and while a bit of softness would be nice here, it turned out a little *too* not sharp. Nice eye, though....

I generally don't like macros of flowers, but this one definitely caught my attention. The DOF and lighting make it great.... I especially like the light gradient towards the right edge. Nice photo!
