I was about a half mile from the action. So the softness you're seeing is the result of the distance and a good amount of sea mist in the air. In front of where the largest waves break 2 other sets of waves break. The result is a large amount of seamist.

Very decisive moment Jim! Nice composition, I also like the seagull at the top left of the image.
Overall I see the full image a little bit out of focus, is it me or wave's splash?
Thanks for sharing!

I love the scene, the colors.. the landscape.. but the overall focus seems too soft especially when combined with the lighting... I like the sky and the nice gold color... good work

I like this one a little better than the other napa shot.
I think the brighter clouds towards the middle and a bit more blue in the sky! The tree seems more detailed than the other.
Another pleasing landscape Jim!!You have some very nice images in Your portfolio!
Thanks again Jim! My best..................John

Wonderful colors and composition Jim! I have to agree with a few about the limited dof here!
My eyes want part of the yellow to be in focus.
I really like how the color comes from the corner down! Pretty!
My best...........John

Hi Jim, Thanks for Your kind comment! Appreciate Your critique!
I really like this composition!
The foreground field grabs Me here!
The sky is pretty but the tree seems a little soft, lacking detail in the branches.Maybe the stark contrast against the dark sky ?? Were You zoomed in(200mm) for this??
Love the play of light on the field!!
Overall a pleasing photo Jim! Take care! My best..........John

Agree with Vanessa's and Manu's comments--first thought upon seeing the thumbnail was, this would be nice with a thick black frame. Second thought when viewing the larger version was that I wish the focal point would run across the top third, where the brighter color is located. Still, very nice abstract.

Excellent use of DOF throughout the frame. I like the way the foreground branches have been blurred out so as to keep the viewers mind on the bird. Excellent placement of the bird also and her colour matches with the surrounding environment also.
