Thank you again for your comments. The men are unloading fish, I don't know what kind. The cape area of South Africa is very rich in sea life and they have a huge variety of fish for sale and in restuarants. Phil

The colours are great, very reminiscent of my work space. Just as busy too only the humans here are only half size. Lots happening in this image to catch the viewers eye. I wish I could see what is in the crate they are carrying. Nice work. Cathy

Yes, the woman has turned her head away in conversation with her mother, not to avoid the camera. Technically this is a weak photo but does show the three generations and that is why I included it.

Great shot Philip.
Very nice how you silhouetted them against the grass and still kept the markings of the zebras in the background.
But, you are never going to get a complaint from me on a picture of cheetahs.
All the best, Ed

its a great documentary photo philip. a shame you didnt get all three of the ladies in a bit tighter but thats the way it is sometimes when we look back on some missed chances. still, you managed to convey an interesting part of the daily life of these namibians.
regarding the comment by our photographic colleague kambiz, i think its safe to say that if the woman didnt want her photo taken, that would have been made clear by the individual concerned at the outset. in cases like this, these people are usually pleased to be the subject of a photo.
good to see others that are interested in the lives of those living in different societies.
warmest regards ~ james

Thanks for your comments, Doyle. This was taken in Etosha National Park in Namibia. We were required to remain in the vehicle at all times in the park except for the camping areas since elephant can be very dangerous if they feel threatened. There are also lions around. A tourist was killed and eaten near this spot 4 years ago by a lion (he was sitting out alone in the open and fell asleep!).

This is such a lovely story, both verbally and visually. I like that the figures diminish in size from right to left, and that the background is monotoned, making the skin tones stand out. The older members look busy but the little guy looks tired. Another great piece of work admired by all here. Cathy
PS congratulations on Photo of the Day. When I read all the comments, i felt I could add no more, even though I think it is quite a dramtic work.

I like that you have captured the young girl's face right in the centre of the action. For me her face is the focus of this image and she seems to be having a lovely time. When I drag my gaze from her smile I enjoy wandering through the detail of the surroundings. Nice work. Cathy
