Hey Laura! How's it going?

Do you remember me? I'm now living in Australia! Gimme a message back :-)

Hi Laura,

I like the natural looking tones in this one, as well as the feeling of depth you created by chosing this low PoV.

There are a few things that bother me about this photo a bit. If I consider the centered flower to be the primary subject, the one on the right, equally large, creates a bit of unbalance in the composition. Maybe it's the lack of a clearly distringuishable primary subject, too - it leaves the decision in the middle without introducing anything in the composition that clearly attracts (and holds) the viewers attention.

Also, by centering the flower in the middle, most of the effect of depth is reduced, IMO, and the image becomes rather static.

Another thing is the relatively shallow Depth of field. It makes the image (and viewers attention) "wander off" a bit in the top left corner; If you could introduce an out of focus area in the lower right, I think you could compensate for that without loosing the feeling of depth.

This all sounds rather mean and negative, but that's probably my prhasing, I do think there are a few aspects that could be improved upon... Hope you see what I mean.

Cheers,

hugo

Hello Laura:
I really like your picture, you take an unusual behavior and it is happening so the picture is dinamic.
Besides that your composition is very good with the focal to the left and a little bellow the center, and the triangular composition with the fish and the two stones colored stones.
Congratulations.
Sergio

Hi GIrIsH, Thank you for your comment, The original picture was much bigger but unfortunately I could not use it due to the limit, I will however try to format it so I can add the full version as I think you will like that one even more
Thank you for all your comments

Hi Laura
You captured good colors but sky could have been more say 2/3 to 1/3 ground to give much more dramatic colors and composition.

regards

Ahaaa much better Laura!

Did you stroke this fish? I'm not sure i'd dare!

Good catch with the mouth out of the water - i've been doing shots like that myself today at the lake.

Keep 'em coming!
