looks like you've gotten your scanning figured out. this is interesting, i really like the palm trees against the black sand. they really pop out. have you tried completely cropping out the sky? 8)

nicely seen pattern. seen it myself many times and now you've got me itching to go on vacation again. kevin, why wait till summer? unless of course you're in the midwest or east coast but then there's always ice diving and dry suits. 8)

sue, anne: thank you

andrew l: sorry, forgot to answer your question earlier. this is in newport beach between the wedge and the balboa pier.

apparently, the dolphins being there is a nightly occurence based on the crowd that was gathered along with the few folks i had talked to. they were only about 20 yards or so off the beach, very close. they were feeding as well as playing. needless to say, i will be going back this wknd. 8)

this is another good view of the city. you must be right around the fullerton exit from lake shore? you probably could've opened up a few more stops and eliminated the globe starry like effect on the street lamps. somewhere around f/5.6 or f/8 is usually optimum. 8)

i don't know much about model type photography but here's what i see. the hot spot on her cheek is a bit distracting as are the hair wisps in the upper left. interesting hair style though. must've taken forever to do that up. 8)

i like it. color is good and the blur doesn't bother me. sounds like watching you trying to get the shot would have been quite entertaining. 8)

great panning and i like the perspective on this. it's an interesting view onto a steep section of track. those corners are usually banked at 30 or 35 degrees. wood tracks are insane. i've lost enough skin on cement ones to know that i never want to do it on a wood one. 8)

i like it james. you're right, the clutter in the foreground and the fence do make me look up and over it to see the buildings beyond. there's a sense of dilapidation. the sepia works well. good to see you posting again. 8)

nice. i've always liked what happens with the red filter. good detail in the sand and shrubs. 2 wishes though. I'd like to see it a tad larger and I keep looking for a bit more sky. 8)

interesting view. definitely doesn't look vertical. how did you get the water to go black? and what's causing the swirls? wish it was bigger. i'd love to see the detail in the wall. 8)

totally jealous. this place is on my wish list of places that need to be seen. good detail in the buildings and cliff face. do you have a color version? 8)
