I just shot in aperature priority and let the camera decide on exposure. I tried bracketing it later but the default exposure was right on. Nikon matrix metering works pretty good in most situations, never had any problems with it.

The D70 is fantatsic for these shots- I read a review recently that claimed the D70 was crap for sunset/sunrise shots due to is CCD metering- Crap!
