Matej,
Hey! Its nice to see you on here. It's been a while since I've seen a post. I suppose you've been quite busy... Yeah, 2 flashes. Both were positioned as fill flashes on the left hand side. The sun was to the right and behind the subject. One flash was slightly behind the subject out of frame on the left the other was slighty in front of the subject also out of frame. Both flashes were at ground level. You can see evidence of the flash on the inside of the leg where the deep shadow is and also on his shoes. I've found that that with my flashes (sunpak 555's) they compensate at +1 So I always use them on it's manual settings. The best tip I could give you is to PRACTICE with them. I routinly set them up in my living room or basement and just play. It helps that I have a digital camera, but the practice makes for good exercises. The back of these flashes has compensation for film speed (3200 t0 64), apperature (F32-F2.8) and power (full-1/32nd) in day light situations I use them at ISO 64, F32, and vary the power as needed. Using them at ISO 64 fools the flash into outputting more power thinking that it has to compensate for a slower film speed to try and match the bright sunlight. I then utilize the power setting and add or decrease as I see fit for the situation. Thats what I've started with... Hope this helps. If you have more questions, please ask... I'm more than happy to help. Best of luck to you... and I hope your new Year is going well.
Cheers Toby

Hey, two flashes, that's gotta be fun :-) I've got a flash which I'd like to learn to use properly, so I'd be interested in any tips you may share. In this photo, were the two flashes direct (onboard?) and camera left? How did you set the power? (My main outdoor experiment thus far consisted of keeping the flash in auto mode with -1 stop compensation; turned out ok, but I would prefer to have full control over what I'm doing instead of guessing and hoping the guess wasn't totally bad).

cool shot. i like the composition. did you use a flash at all???
the only thing i'd change would be to add a frame so the upper right corner isn't lost so much. cheers, todd
